From making a selvedge to publishing its image sometimes leads a long way. Through the forests of photography... I was so happy that my camera takes pictures almost by itself. Lately, I only correct the frame (and even that is not always) and the size. This time it was different. Red wool has always been difficult for me. I even suspected that maybe I see the color wrong and the camera takes a picture of what is really there. After many attempts: at home, outside in full sun, with a lamp, without, in a tent... in a tent in the sun, I succeeded thanks to a little trick. I finally chose a photo of close objects with a cold atmosphere. And here is the success - this is how I see these selvedges:

The strip with swastikas, which I am already weaving on autopilot, is 3 meters long. The second strip is 2.15 m long and features my favorite textile monsters – spiders. Octopuses also appeared for company, and on the left side there are jellyfish 😀 Oh, the width is about 4.2 cm. I used coarse wool.

  1. Oh… Beautiful… But how do you make the ending so that you end up with such pretty fringes? I either have to tie knots or braid them, because I'm afraid that otherwise the selvedge will unravel…

  2. I'm replying a bit late - please don't be mad. The fringes are held together by pulling the thread through the previous rows when finishing, and the yarn itself is so coarse that it doesn't come apart. It wouldn't work with larger widths.
