Laces made of good yarn

I decided to finally remind myself and show that I still weave 😉

I present a selvedge made based on the find from Opole in my color version.

The selvedge is 8.3 m long and 1.7 cm wide.

Material provided by Joanna Hajduk. The yarn is very thin, single-twisted, hand-spun and dyed with madder.

The description of the find is in the book: Early medieval textiles from excavations in Opole / Jerzy Maik, 1991. The photo and detailed analysis were made by Alice. She also added an encouragement to help yourself :).

I just noticed that there seem to be two borders similar to this one missing from the blog. I don't see me bragging about them anywhere – horror! 😉 they're only on picasa.

  • Pastures grazing

Last year I decided to put a bit more threads on the very, design a more complicated pattern, weave a piece and leave such a half-finished selvedge to show the technique of weaving. My presentation lasted even 2 months, but I couldn't stop weaving and had to rework the entire warp. In September I made myself a second warp to show weaving techniques during…

  • Warm browns

I present a variation on the find from Ostrówek in Opole. I chose a harmonious color scheme of warm browns. I modified the pattern, leaving the grosgrain weave in the middle. The rows are tightly compressed, so the selvedge is quite stiff and solid, and it came out wider than I expected for the number of threads in the warp (3.4 cm). I managed to break the length record and came out 8.6 m….

  • Green Series

After a break related to a trip to Beijing 😉 and smaller matters, I finished weaving on a wound warp. Today I took poor photos, but I and the camera are the best we can do – correcting the colors in Photoshop didn’t help either. Only the pattern is correct 🙂 Each of the selves is a bit over 4 cm wide. The lengths are as follows: 2.25 m, 1.6…

  • Miączynek demands access to the sea

The idea for such unusual selvedges was born in the winter while watching an evening series set in the Caribbean. Between scenes, there were often views with the seashore in the background and palm trees in the foreground. As much as the colors of the yarns and my imagination allowed me to, I conveyed the impression. This is one of the most enjoyable experiments. I am very glad that…
