At the beginning of March in Poznań I will have the pleasure of leading a workshop on weaving selvedges on a bardek. The organizer is Agnieszka Jackowiak. The course is cleverly divided into a basic and advanced stage. You will be able to learn how to weave both plain and patterned selvedges, the secrets of which so many people are curious about 🙂

Since I already have a weaving belt, I started using it to weave selvedges. Without my esteemed… lower back, it looks like this: It is incredibly comfortable. And most importantly, it is easy and quick to get ready for work. When the kettle whistle starts to blow, you can free yourself in a few seconds… before the water burns 😉
Today I present my most valuable weaving loom. Unfortunately, its historicity is a constant matter of dispute. Archaeological finds confirm the presence of such tools, but there is still no reliable study on their use in textiles. I suspect that there is a kind of scientific taboo in this area. The lack of a bard is not a problem. I present a selvedge woven on two sticks: One of the sticks is a half-harness, to which half of the warp is attached. When it is lifted, a shed is created.
