A few colorful strips

Where did I end up…? A pistachio-cherry creation. However, I have been weaving a bit recently and have created a few selvedges, none of which have yet had a separate blog premiere (at most, they were in a spoiler). Now they will all be presented at once 🙂

All the selvedges are made of pure tapestry wool. They are therefore quite thick and stiff. As usual, they are tightly packed.

The green one is 5.55 m long and 2.5 cm wide.

The red one is 8.5 m long and 2.3 cm wide.

The blue one is as much as 10.3 m long and 2.5 cm wide.

  1. Fantastic! so even and all :) that blue one in particular caught my attention, it bothers me how you threaded the threads, that the middle (dashed) line is at a different height than the other neighboring ones… Because it's also woven on the shoulder? Right?

  2. Thanks 🙂
At first I didn't understand the question at all... But I think I already know that it's about a kind of shift. The selvedge is smooth, i.e. made on a regular shoulder with a plain weave. The visual effect is a matter of applying the threads. There are 3 dark blue threads: 2 went through the slits and 1 through the hole in the shoulder. And between them there are still light ones.
    Happy weaving 😀
