Second green series

I finished the green yarn and the yarn finished me.

This time I didn't correct the colors so that I could compare how I see the selvedges and how the camera sees them 😉

The warp is the same as in the case of brown selvedges. So this series is a bit wider than the previous green ones. Swastikas fit in elegantly. I also went a step further in the variations on the Wrocław selvedge and made something like a branch with small leaves. There is also a quite effective, although simple zigzag. And fantastic rhombuses, which I think are liked not only by me, but also by many haberdashers from different eras (a popular pattern... always).

I have some wool yarn bought together with a huge supply of worsted. The yarn is twisted individually, quite loosely. I have already woven it on vertical looms and I know that it tears. It was time to test it in weaving selvedges. I started by tightening the yarn on the spinning wheel. The impression was pleasant – it was the first time I had such an even yarn. I don’t have…

  • January in numbers

Last year's selvedges are hidden in a special basket, because I can't look at them anymore. This year's selvedges, on the other hand, make my work more pleasant, lying on the shelf. The sight of fresh products inspired me to write this post. The statistical summary looks as follows: - number of prepared warps: 9, - number of finished products: 11, - total yardage: 71 m, - average yardage per warp: 7.89 m, - weight...

  • Spring

For me, spring started at the end of January. A larger dose of warm light + wildly chirping sparrows in the form of ruffled balls attached to the hedge. Apparently there were frosts and snow later - I didn't notice. But I finished the border for the Wielewit team. It is 8.5 m long and 3 cm wide. Made of Oliwia, an acrylic-wool yarn. It is very…

  • Motley

I recently made a colorful selvedge. It is 4.5 cm wide. It was supposed to be 9 m long, which is half a meter more than I had managed to make using elements of housing infrastructure. It turned out that all I had to do was make a certain modification to the way the warp was wound. The selvedge came out with a margin, because it is almost 10 m long. I estimate that…

  • Laces made of good yarn

I decided to finally remind you about myself and show that I still weave 😉 I present a selvedge made based on the find from Opole in my color version. The selvedge is 8.3 m long and 1.7 cm wide. The material was provided by Joanna Hajduk. The yarn is very thin, single-twisted, hand-spun and dyed with madder. The description of the find is in the book: Early medieval textiles from excavations in Opole…

  • Pastures grazing

Last year I decided to put a bit more threads on the very, design a more complicated pattern, weave a piece and leave such a half-finished selvedge to show the technique of weaving. My presentation lasted even 2 months, but I couldn't stop weaving and had to rework the entire warp. In September I made myself a second warp to show weaving techniques during…
