More complicated

Following the advice, I'll try the html mode. The image is still on the left, even though the style is "center" and I've added align center. But I can add non-breaking spaces. And I really have better control over all of this. If something falls apart, it's only my fault 😉

Recently I had the opportunity to make a slightly more difficult selvedge. A bit… Very thin yarn, some warp threads thinner, others thicker and cotton cord, i.e. uneven elasticity. The pattern on the margin is small and made of single threads. And all this in a small size – width 1.7 cm. Sometimes I think it's some kind of irony of fate that such nasty things behave ;P

I won't give you my progress today because I haven't ridden a bike, I'm making a selvedge... nice, from kosher wool, but I'll add its length when I finish - in the meantime I'm missing the thread, and I'm only a little over half a meter to go. I'm also sewing a skirt for the heat. Theoretically it was supposed to be like in the stories, a typical Slavic, roomy shirt with narrow sleeves. That's all I managed, but in practice it turned out that this style doesn't suit me.

In LÄ…d, it finally dawned on me that it would be necessary to take care of Seweryn's historical clothes. It is obvious that a shoemaker walks without shoes, but this cannot be transferred to his loved ones. A shirt that I sewed last year required particularly quick intervention - a new shirt, but without trims, with scabbed (oh, the spell checker knows this word) edges...

  • This year's patterned

Recently I have created a lot of simpler selvedges, but I have also made a few spun ones. They all have patterns from finds and are in the form of stripes. Plain weave, picking technique, and the raw material is wool. I had additional trouble with the first selvedge – I wove it on a yoke loom at shows in variable conditions 🙂 Birka B12, Sweden Birka B12, Sweden Birka B2,…

  • MiÄ…czynek demands access to the sea

The idea for such unusual selvedges was born in the winter while watching an evening series set in the Caribbean. Between scenes, there were often views with the seashore in the background and palm trees in the foreground. As much as the colors of the yarns and my imagination allowed me to, I conveyed the impression. This is one of the most enjoyable experiments. I am very glad that…

  • Pokemon

I'm almost afraid to use this word, because uncle Google will start referring Pokemon hunters or collectors to my blog. Fortunately, I don't have a phobia about it - I remember that there was some cartoon with funny creatures, but the wave didn't take me. Actually, neither of the two waves: delight and mocking criticism. I won't describe the genesis of the selvedge,…

  • Warm browns

I present a variation on the find from Ostrówek in Opole. I chose a harmonious color scheme of warm browns. I modified the pattern, leaving the grosgrain weave in the middle. The rows are tightly compressed, so the selvedge is quite stiff and solid, and it came out wider than I expected for the number of threads in the warp (3.4 cm). I managed to break the length record and came out 8.6 m….

  • Express selvedges

As part of testing a new weaving technique on the inkle loom, a lot of meters of selvedge were created. The technique is fast, hence the name of the post. I wrote about it in the post Express weaving. All the selvedges are about 2 cm wide, and most of them are about 8 m long. Made from a mixture of wool from acrylic and traditional sheep. To tell the truth, it's a pity...
