This year's patterned

Recently I have created a lot of simpler selvedges, but I have also made a few spun ones. They all have patterns from finds and are in the form of stripes. Plain weave, picking technique, and the raw material is wool. I had additional trouble with the first selvedge – I wove it on a yoke loom at shows in variable conditions 🙂

  • A series of selvedges in national colours

Among the dwindling supplies of yarn I had 2 skeins of pure thick wool. The red and white look beautiful. I'm just a little sad that the association with the national flag comes to some people as if with simultaneous disgust or a kind of shame. I'll be disgusted if someone associates my selvedges with a pop culture overgrown dwarf that has been flying before our eyes for…

  • January in numbers

Last year's selvedges are hidden in a special basket, because I can't look at them anymore. This year's selvedges, on the other hand, make my work more pleasant, lying on the shelf. The sight of fresh products inspired me to write this post. The statistical summary looks as follows: - number of prepared warps: 9, - number of finished products: 11, - total yardage: 71 m, - average yardage per warp: 7.89 m, - weight...

From making a selvedge to publishing its image sometimes leads a long way. Through the forests of photographs… I was so happy that my camera took pictures almost by itself. Lately I only corrected the frame (and even that is not always) and the size. This time it was different. Red wool has always been difficult for me. I even suspected that maybe I was seeing this one wrong…

  • Opole Krajka

I present another selvedge. The original comes from Ostrówek in Opole and is dated to the 4th quarter of the 11th century and the beginning of the 12th century. I used factory yarn, 100% wool. The number of threads in the warp is identical to the original, but my yarn is thicker, so the selvedge is also wider - instead of 2.5 cm it is 3.2 cm. Plain-grosgrain weave. Length 7.7…

  • Many-witted

Again, I'm quite behind on writing. That's because, for an unemployed person, I've had a lot of work lately ;P I present the selvedges that I made especially for the Wielewit team. Patterns and colors reserved 😀 The selvedge on the left is 2.2 cm wide and 6.5 m long - it was originally 12.8 m, but it was cut off. At the back lies a selvedge that is 2.5 cm wide...
