I INVITE YOU TO THE WORKSHOPS

At the beginning of March in Poznań I will have the pleasure of leading a workshop on weaving selvedges on a bardek. The organizer is Agnieszka Jackowiak. The course is cleverly divided into a basic and advanced stage. You will be able to learn how to weave both plain and patterned selvedges, the secrets of which so many people are curious about 🙂

I refer you to the page Hobby-wool, where you can find out more details.

  • I'm still learning

I'm just jumping from one YouTube video to another and I'm finding a ton of interesting stuff. Some phenomenally clever chick is showing the principles of weaving on a horizontal loom. I wish I had thought of those obvious solutions. Her method of setting up a half-harness is much simpler than the one I saw in Professor Turnau's book. A horizontal loom is a distant dream to me,…

  • Technical revolution

I wondered a bit what to write in the first "Sierakowski" post. The impressions after arrival have passed, so I will spare myself describing them... and what they have already heard 😉 The most important thing for me is weaving, so I will show off my new device. I cannot afford to hang the warp from window to window like I did in Krakow, so I wind it on a portable...

  • Patterned selvedges

I get questions about how to weave patterns on a bardek. Especially for those interested, I decided to prepare a pseudo-guide. Supposedly, because it certainly won't be professional 😀 When you delve into the subject of weaving, you are amazed. The wealth of patterns and colors of fabrics is just the tip of the iceberg of delights available to everyone. Somehow these threads cross. Not by themselves - someone...

  • Krajka – an experiment

I have given it a working name for an archaeological experiment. However, I honestly admit that I am not an archaeologist. I try to reliably recreate weaving, expand my knowledge, and above all develop my skills and dexterity. Several times I have found information that selvedges were woven on something like this (unfortunately I do not have a better photo): On the left is a folk bardo. Supposedly, in the place where selvedges were found in…

  • Backstrap loom

Have a backstrap and make a backstrap… Backstrap is actually a term for a belt with which the weaver attaches to the fabric being created. It provides comfort above all – even distribution of the warp tension 😉 So, to weave on a backstrap, you need a backstrap, which is best woven on a backstrap 😛 And if you don’t have a backstrap, too bad – you have to use…
