Fabric for nothing

In keeping with the medieval tradition, I would like to make a fabric that "is useless" someday. I can definitely make fabrics that are useless ;P

While still in Biskupin at the Festival, I finished the long-hanging warp. The result was a piece of questionable quality fabric measuring 130 x 43 cm. On one end there is a selvedge with long stripes sticking out, and on the other loose fringes.

Here you can see the poor thing still on the loom:

The design is strange, the material is a bit plastic, and the workmanship is lopsided. Regarding the last one, I can safely blame the partners in the production. More than one child had fun in weaving tests. And I, by the way, that I can share such joy of creation. Although to be honest, it is mainly my "areas for development" that are most visible.

Step by step you have to train, and in my case make all possible mistakes. Although earlier attempts were better – e.g. the brown apron.

I hope that the next fabric on vertical looms will be better, so that my little collaborators will be happy with the effect.

  • Vertical looms – creating the warp.

Today, during the Biskupin Festival, I finished a long-hanging fabric and my vertical looms are finally free. I also had an idea on how to simplify the creation of the warp. The edge selvedge worked well in the case of the apron, but it will not be needed in all cases. In addition, the warping and weaving of the edge selvedge with the addition of the actual fabric to the warp weft…

  • Pastel fabric

Last year was a successful one – at least in terms of weaving. I may gradually be able to report here. I have made some progress in the area of weaving on vertical looms. Previous attempts were different – usually time-consuming and not very engaging. I already have two weft samples from a tapestry with a linen warp and two mixed cloths, so it came…

  1. The beginnings are always crooked 😉
From time to time, when I am very dissatisfied with the results of my current weaving work, I take out my first selvedges. I can't believe that SO MUCH has changed, that my skills have improved so much. And immediately my mood returns. And the desire to continue working 🙂
You too will be able to make beautiful fabric in a moment 🙂 You'll see 😉

  2. It's not exactly the beginning - earlier fabrics on vertical looms came out better for me. But they were much smaller. In this case, I made too big a jump in the difficulty scale... Nevertheless, thank you for your encouragement, best regards 🙂
