The whole month in bulk

You could say I've taken a pretty long break from blogging. But time and space are getting messed up again. So much has happened to me lately that I feel like my last post was half a year ago, and it's only been a month.

Seweryn didn't discover the surprise too early - only in Łekno while putting on his shirt. But unfortunately we didn't see his face, because his tent was too small and he went to change in a civilized, but remote place. The most important thing is that the hem was approved.

After Łekno I was in Biskupin several times as a weaver and haberdasher, I bought a wonderful weaving loom and bought myself a very expensive French three-dimensional puzzle.

I haven't weaved much, but I still have something to be proud of.

First, a selvedge, which I call a copy of my own work. I decided to botch the job badly – that is, not put any effort into it at all, and see how much I could speed up the weaving to meet the needs of customers who want cheap selvedges. Unfortunately, I didn't botch it completely and it's even decently compact. There will probably be more cheap selvedges for the "commoners" 😉

Length 7.5 m, width 2 cm, composition 75% acrylic, 25% wool.

Because I liked the pattern… so simple and even obvious. Although not very groundbreaking and probably someone has already used it in weaving, I accept it as “mine”.

Length 7.5 m, width 2 cm, composition 100% wool.

Most of my selvedges represent patterns of my own invention, and I only copy my ancestors… although not very often, which I regret. As an exception, I copied someone else's work to weave a selvedge to order. Although there are some differences anyway.

I'm almost afraid to use this word, because uncle Google will start referring Pokemon hunters or collectors to my blog. Fortunately, I don't have a phobia about it - I remember that there was some cartoon with funny creatures, but the wave didn't take me. Actually, neither of the two waves: delight and mocking criticism. I won't describe the genesis of the selvedge,…

  • Laces made of good yarn

I decided to finally remind you about myself and show that I still weave 😉 I present a selvedge made based on the find from Opole in my color version. The selvedge is 8.3 m long and 1.7 cm wide. The material was provided by Joanna Hajduk. The yarn is very thin, single-twisted, hand-spun and dyed with madder. The description of the find is in the book: Early medieval textiles from excavations in Opole…

  • More complicated

Following the advice, I will try the html mode. The image is still on the left, even though the style is "center" and I added align center. But I can add non-breaking spaces. And I really do have better control over all of this. If something falls apart, it's only my fault 😉 I recently had the opportunity to make a slightly more difficult selvedge. A bit…

  • Tricolor

Today, I am happy and proud to present new technically and visually advanced selvedges 🙂 I have long wondered whether the warp-pulling method could be used to obtain more colorful selvedges. Up until now, I have been weaving two-color patterns. Of course, I am not mentioning the fact that the warp can be divided lengthwise into stripes of different colors. I made a few drawings then and came to the unfortunate conclusion that…

  • This year's patterned

Recently I have created a lot of simpler selvedges, but I have also made a few spun ones. They all have patterns from finds and are in the form of stripes. Plain weave, picking technique, and the raw material is wool. I had additional trouble with the first selvedge – I wove it on a yoke loom at shows in variable conditions 🙂 Birka B12, Sweden Birka B12, Sweden Birka B2,…
