Alternative

  • Opole Krajka

I present another selvedge. The original comes from Ostrówek in Opole and is dated to the 4th quarter of the 11th century and the beginning of the 12th century. I used factory yarn, 100% wool. The number of threads in the warp is identical to the original, but my yarn is thicker, so the selvedge is also wider - instead of 2.5 cm it is 3.2 cm. Plain-grosgrain weave. Length 7.7…

  • Fantastic border

I worked on this border for quite a long time, but it's finally here. I finished it in Ląd. I'm only posting about it now, because I couldn't handle the photo. It's hopeless anyway... but let others take care of the photography 😀 The length is 8.7 m, and the width is 2.8 cm. The material is a nice yarn made from a mixture of real sheep wool and...

  • For warming up

I hereby announce the opening of the workshop. I am fulfilling outstanding orders and preparing fresh assortment 🙂 After a long break, I am returning to weaving on the bardek. To warm up, I made a short selvedge – it is only 5.5 m 😉 Even though I am not used to it, it is quite dense. • for Seweryn

In Ląd, it finally dawned on me that it would be necessary to take care of Seweryn's historical clothes. It is obvious that a shoemaker walks without shoes, but this cannot be transferred to his loved ones. A shirt that I sewed last year required particularly quick intervention - a new shirt, but without trims, with scabbed (oh, the spell checker knows this word) edges...

  • Brown series again

This is the second series of brown stripes. The number of threads and the arrangement are the same as before. The patterns are different, because I try never to repeat myself. It's a waste of time, and there are so many ideas. Weaving from coarse yarn is laborious and a bit off-putting. The effect is quite interesting, so that's the only reason I didn't throw the wool in the farthest corner, so...
