Green Series
After a break related to a trip to Beijing 😉 and smaller matters, I finished weaving on a wound warp. Today I took poor photos, but I and the camera are the best we can do – correcting the colors in Photoshop didn’t help either. Only the pattern is correct 🙂 Each of the selves is a bit over 4 cm wide. The lengths are as follows: 2.25 m, 1.6…
Many-witted
Again, I'm quite behind on writing. That's because, for an unemployed person, I've had a lot of work lately ;P I present the selvedges that I made especially for the Wielewit team. Patterns and colors reserved 😀 The selvedge on the left is 2.2 cm wide and 6.5 m long - it was originally 12.8 m, but it was cut off. At the back lies a selvedge that is 2.5 cm wide...

Birka patterns my way
After the exam, I felt like repeating a pattern from Birka. I like a few of them in particular, and this time I decided to play with combining motifs. I chose two fragments from two finds and added a connector of my own to fill the background. I wove using a yoke loom, because the pattern required the use of a large number of warp threads. The width came out quite large –…

Opole Krajka
I present another selvedge. The original comes from Ostrówek in Opole and is dated to the 4th quarter of the 11th century and the beginning of the 12th century. I used factory yarn, 100% wool. The number of threads in the warp is identical to the original, but my yarn is thicker, so the selvedge is also wider - instead of 2.5 cm it is 3.2 cm. Plain-grosgrain weave. Length 7.7…
for Seweryn
In Ląd, it finally dawned on me that it would be necessary to take care of Seweryn's historical clothes. It is obvious that a shoemaker walks without shoes, but this cannot be transferred to his loved ones. A shirt that I sewed last year required particularly quick intervention - a new shirt, but without trims, with scabbed (oh, the spell checker knows this word) edges...
A series of selvedges in national colours
Among the dwindling supplies of yarn I had 2 skeins of pure thick wool. The red and white look beautiful. I'm just a little sad that the association with the national flag comes to some people as if with simultaneous disgust or a kind of shame. I'll be disgusted if someone associates my selvedges with a pop culture overgrown dwarf that has been flying before our eyes for…
